Overview:
One of Indiana’s premier winter birding experiences! This tour focuses on massive concentrations of gulls at the Elkhart Landfill, and/or the lakes around Notre Dame's campus in South Bend. These locations differ based on gull numbers present at the time of tour. With two potential locations we will maximize our total species potential, offering chances to study Arctic and rare gull species rarely found inland!

Iceland Gull (Kulmlien's, Thayer's, and Glaucoides)
Lesser Black-backed Gull
Great Black-backed Gull
Glaucous Gull

What to Expect:

Pace & Difficulty: Easy but focused birding
Photography: Excellent with long lenses
Habitats: Active landfill environment, Lakes, and Rivers
Walking/Driving Balance: Mostly stationary observation

All guests must sign a liability waiver before attending a tour. The waiver will be sent out electronically during the scheduling of your tour and must be signed by all participants before your tour to confirm/secure your booking.

Birding Tour Terms and Conditions

1. Reservations and Payment – Reservations may require advance registration and payment. Space may be limited to maintain safety and a quality experience.

2. Participant Requirements – Participants must be physically able to walk on natural terrain that may include uneven ground, mud, rocks, roots, or slopes.

3. Wildlife Viewing – Bird sightings and wildlife encounters cannot be guaranteed. Participants must follow the guide’s instructions regarding wildlife observation.

4. Weather Conditions – Tours occur outdoors and may proceed in light rain. Aidan’s Adventures may modify, shorten, postpone, or cancel tours for safety reasons.

5. Transportation Policy – Transportation may occasionally be offered to or between birding locations at the discretion of Aidan’s Adventures. Space in guide vehicles may be limited. Participants who expect or request transportation must notify Aidan’s Adventures in advance, and transportation cannot be guaranteed.

Participants who accept transportation agree to follow all vehicle safety instructions, including wearing seatbelts and remaining seated while the vehicle is in motion. Whenever possible, participants are encouraged to travel in their own vehicles and follow the guide between birding locations.

6. Participant Conduct – Participants must follow the guide’s instructions. Unsafe or disruptive participants may be removed without refund.

7. Equipment – Participants are responsible for their own binoculars, cameras, and other gear.

8. Cancellations – Refunds or rescheduling may be offered depending on timing and circumstances. Refund Policy is as follows: Payment is due in full at the time of booking to confirm your reservation. Cancellations made 5 or more days before your scheduled tour date are eligible for a full refund of the total amount paid. If you cancel 4 to 3 days before your tour, you will receive a 50% refund of the total amount paid. Cancellations made 2 days or less before the tour, as well as no-shows on the day of the tour, are not eligible for any refund.

9. Waiver Requirement – Participation requires completion of the Aidan’s Adventures waiver and assumption of risk agreement.

10. Governing Law – These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Indiana.
