Early spring in Indiana’s Lye Creek Prairie “burn” provides a short but exciting window to observe Smith’s Longspur before they depart north. We’ll carefully scan open fields for longspur flocks, work sparrow-rich edges for LeConte’s and Vesper Sparrows, and search for Eurasian Tree Sparrows. This tour emphasizes field identification skills, flock behavior, and open-country birding strategy.
